Weekend Update

After work and dinner on Friday, Bob and I enjoyed a very rare evening out. We met up with my siblings and cousins for a "welcome home" celebration for Cousin Nancy, who doesn't get home often enough after moving to Idaho some 20 years ago. We had a great time catching up with the cousins... we don't get many chances to see them anymore, so Friday night was a real treat!

Saturday was chore day... mow the lawn, shop for food and Moms' gifts, pull the weeds from the flower beds, etc. It wasn't exciting stuff, but we did most of the chores together, and it was nice to have a "just us" day. We grilled steaks for dinner and had bakers along side them. YUM!

We ate separate breakfasts on Sunday morning while we were getting ourselves ready for the whirlwind Moms tour. We spent an hour or so with Bob's mom, chatting about gardening and family and future travel plans for us and them. MIL asked us for our "expert" opinion on edging her future flower bed, and we laughed at her for thinking we're anything close to experts. Phhtt! Most of the beds we've edged over the years have buckled and become un-even... nearly all of them require annual tweaking. We gave her our best advise and let her know that perfection hasn't been reached in our neck of the woods.

After visiting Bob's folks, we headed south for a visit with my mom. As per usual, chaos ensued. (But I love it!) My brothers were busy grilling burgers and dogs, and installing planters and screen doors for Mom. We girly-types busied ourselves with feeding and looking after the gaggle of kids, and trying to talk Mom into giving up Baby Cecilia for a minute or two.

I had a wonderful weekend. I hope you did too!
